On floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSO), energy chain systems are used, among others, in "riser pull in" systems. Depending on the type of ship (spread moored or mooring turret) the applications differ by long travels or rotary applications.
A great advantage of the plastic energy chain (e-chain®) over steel energy chains is thereby the corrosion resistance, since a large proportion of the movable systems are often not used for very long periods of time. Plastic energy chain therefore remain movable and operational over long periods of time.
igus® also offers turn-key complete systems, including guide troughs or dynamic chainflex® cables, which are characterized by their freedom from maintenance and a long service life. Project management as well as appropriate documentation (ITP, QAP, etc.) can be performed by the igus® engineering team according to the common standard in the offshore sector. The experienced supervisor team is appropriately trained and undertakes installations (also offshore) as well as approval on site.
Mooring turret
