This machine tool combines milling and deep-hole drilling systems into one machine – a nod to increasing demands for multi-functional machines. Conventional milling techniques are combined with modern deep-hole drilling systems, saving twice on both purchasing and set-up costs.
Any cable carrier used in this application must withstand extreme dust, dirt and drilling fluid outside and the weight of heavy hydraulic hoses inside.
A robust plastic RX tube was chosen to route all cables and hoses to the machine tool’s main spindle. The enclosed cable carrier was selected due to its almost airtight design and reliable protection - even when in continuous use. The machine can work for three shifts seven days a week at a bend radius of under four inches.
The protective tube lies directly in the chip area, but it’s rounded design means chips simply bounce off. The pin-bore connection and stop dogs are covered, so no chips can become stuck.
The innovative machine tool consists of five basic machines with modular options. In addition to traditional mold making and tooling, the machine can be used in the aviation and aerospace industry, general mechanical engineering, the solar industry, apparatus engineering and the oil & gas industry.
